Bareilly Police have registered a fresh fraud case against Vipra Sharma, who is accused of impersonating an IAS officer and cheating job seekers with promises of government employment. The latest complaint alleges that a family was defrauded of ₹3.50 lakh on the assurance of securing a UPSSSC computer operator job, taking the total number of criminal cases against the alleged racket to 33.
Job Promise Made Through UPSSSC Claim
According to the complaint, Mohammad Sharif Khan, a resident of Gher Jafar Khan in Bareilly’s Baradari area, said his son Bilal Khan was preparing for UPSSSC recruitment examinations. In 2023, the family came into contact with Vipra Sharma, who allegedly introduced herself as an SDM posted in Varanasi.
The complainant alleged that Sharma assured the family that she could secure Bilal Khan a Group C computer operator post through the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission. She allegedly demanded ₹10 lakh for arranging the appointment and asked for ₹3.50 lakh as advance payment.
Fake Appointment Letter Allegedly Sent
The complainant alleged that he paid ₹3.50 lakh to the accused in multiple instalments between February 2, 2023, and November 20, 2025. He said the remaining amount was to be paid after the job was secured.
When the promised appointment did not materialise, the family repeatedly contacted the accused. On April 17, 2026, she allegedly sent a fake appointment letter for the computer operator post to Bilal Khan’s mobile phone and asked for his bank account details, claiming that salary payments would begin soon.
Police Probe Wider Racket
The complainant later learned that the alleged fake IAS racket had been exposed and that Vipra Sharma had been arrested in another case. He then approached senior police officials, after which a fresh case was registered at Baradari Police Station.
Earlier, police had arrested Vipra Sharma, her sister Shikha Sharma and their cousin Diksha Pathak after allegedly uncovering the racket. Investigators alleged that Vipra Sharma posed as an IAS officer, introducing herself as an SDM or ADM, while others allegedly lured job seekers with government job promises. Police said 33 criminal cases have now been registered against the alleged racket across Baradari, Kotwali, Subhash Nagar, Qila and Izzatnagar police stations in Bareilly.
