The Special Task Force and Cyber Crime Police have uncovered a suspected fraud syndicate operating under the guise of a call centre on GMS Road in Dehradun, arresting two senior executives from the premises. Acting on intelligence shared by the Department of Telecommunications, a joint team raided the office of Singh Asset Recon Services Private Limited near Kamla Palace on Friday. Investigators reported that the facility routed outbound calls through an illegal SIM box to target account holders across multiple commercial banks. Lakshman Prasad, a resident of Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh, and regional manager Jagmohan Singh Rawat of New Delhi were arrested on site, with a formal case registered against them at the Cyber Police Station.

Illegal 32-Slot SIM Box Used to Conceal Call Origins

A key discovery during the Friday raid was a functional 32-slot illegal SIM box deployed to bypass telecommunications guidelines. According to investigators, this setup masked calling identities by directing calls through private mobile numbers rather than standard commercial service series. The technical arrangement was specifically configured to sever any traceable connection between the call centre and the recipients of the calls. Police seized electronic gear, digital call records, and documentation from the facility, while technical specialists began analysing calling infrastructure to identify the source of the SIM cards and determine how many people were contacted through the clandestine network.

Customers of Major Banks Pressured with Threats

Police stated that callers stationed at the centre systematically targeted customers belonging to State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Axis Bank, and other financial institutions. Operating under the pretext of discussing credit card privileges, pending payments, or routine account issues, callers engaged account holders before escalating their tone. Investigators alleged that staff used aggressive intimidation and abusive language to coerce victims into parting with sensitive banking credentials and money. The police are currently auditing financial trails and banking logs to confirm the total volume of targets approached and assess the complete value of funds siphoned off through these coercive exchanges.

Workforce of 39 Hired on Commission to Run Outbound Operations

The facility employed approximately 39 young men and women who were engaged on a commission basis to handle daily calling assignments. Detectives are now scrutinising the exact role assigned to each employee alongside the specific operational scripts provided by management. A critical phase of the ongoing inquiry focuses on uncovering the pipeline through which confidential customer records and phone directories reached the firm. Both Prasad and Rawat remain under custodial interrogation as authorities trace potential links to an expanded interstate network, evaluate digital ledgers, and establish whether additional associates contributed to the breach of banking data.
