A significant development has emerged in the Ketan Agrawal murder investigation, with prime accused Siya Goyal giving written consent to undergo a polygraph test. Police said the examination may help generate fresh leads into unresolved aspects of the case, though any findings will remain subject to further investigation and judicial scrutiny.
Written Consent Submitted
According to available information, Siya Goyal submitted her written consent to the Lonavala Rural Police on Thursday. Her legal counsel said a polygraph examination cannot be conducted under Indian law without the voluntary consent of the accused.
The investigating agency obtained her written approval before moving ahead with the process. Police are now preparing to complete the necessary legal and judicial formalities before conducting the test.
Test Seen as Investigative Aid
Investigators said the polygraph examination may provide additional leads based on the responses recorded during the test. However, officials stressed that the results of a polygraph test are not treated as conclusive evidence on their own.
Police said any findings from the examination will have to be assessed along with other material gathered during the investigation. Criminal liability, officials noted, can only be determined on the basis of admissible evidence and court findings.
Digital and Forensic Evidence Examined
Officials said the investigation team has already collected digital, electronic and forensic evidence related to the case. Several individuals, including the principal accused and others connected to the investigation, have also been questioned.
Authorities are continuing to reconstruct the sequence of events and establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged murder. Police said further legal action will depend on a comprehensive assessment of the polygraph examination, forensic findings, digital evidence, witness statements and all other material collected during the probe.
