A cooperative housing officer posted with the Uttar Pradesh Housing Development Council in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, has been suspended after a video allegedly showing him accepting a bribe went viral on social media. Police have registered an FIR following a complaint filed by the Assistant Housing Commissioner and Assistant Registrar, while the officer has denied the allegations and claimed the video was AI-edited.

Viral Video Sparks Departmental Action

According to officials, the video, lasting about 5 minutes and 32 seconds, circulated widely on X, YouTube and WhatsApp. It allegedly showed cooperative officer Satish Kumar accepting cash.

After the footage gained public attention, the department took cognizance of the matter and placed him under suspension with immediate effect. Officials said the same video had also been aired by a television news channel on June 25.

₹100 Crore Society Probe Underway

Authorities said Satish Kumar had been conducting an inquiry since January 2026 into alleged financial irregularities of around ₹100 crore involving Sanchar Nest Cooperative Society in Web City.

The viral video is claimed to be linked to that investigation. It has been alleged that money was demanded in the name of taking action against the cooperative society and that the footage shows the officer accepting bundles of cash.

The video allegedly includes conversations about sealing the society, missing documents, spending ₹5 lakh to dissolve the managing board, fresh elections and a proposed multi-storey housing project. These claims have not been independently verified.

Officer Claims Video Was AI-Edited

After departmental recommendations, a formal complaint was submitted to police, leading to registration of an FIR under relevant legal provisions. Police said the viral video is being sent for forensic and technical examination.

Investigators are analysing the original video file, digital evidence, witness statements and other records to determine whether the footage is authentic or altered. The accused officer is also being issued a notice as part of the investigation.

Satish Kumar has rejected the allegations. He claimed that the person who circulated the video is already under investigation in an alleged multi-crore financial embezzlement case and alleged that the video was edited using AI technology to influence the ongoing inquiry and damage his reputation. Police said further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
