The court made it clear that the current status of the assets must be maintained until a final decision is reached, and no third-party rights can be created in the meantime.

Court Orders Asset Freeze Amid Estate Dispute
The order comes amid an intense family dispute over Sunjay Kapur’s will. His children from his marriage with Karisma Kapoor have challenged the validity of the will, raising multiple serious concerns. The petition claims that there are several inconsistencies in the document that require thorough judicial scrutiny.
In its directive, the court also asked for detailed disclosures of all bank accounts linked to the estate. Additionally, it restrained the operation of foreign bank accounts and cryptocurrency holdings to prevent any potential manipulation or transfer of assets. The court emphasized that safeguarding the estate is crucial until the truth behind the claims is fully established.
Questions Raised Over Validity of Will
During the hearing, the court observed that both the petitioners and another party had pointed out “suspicious circumstances” surrounding the will, which must be satisfactorily addressed. It specifically noted that the responsibility to clarify these doubts lies with the respondent.
Counsel representing the petitioners highlighted several alleged flaws in the will. These included issues related to the language of the document, lack of registration, and concerns about how it was prepared. The argument stressed that since the primary beneficiary and the propounder of the will are the same person, a deeper level of scrutiny is warranted.
On the other hand, the respondent’s side rejected all allegations, maintaining that the will is completely valid and that all necessary disclosures have already been made. They argued that the format of the will is consistent with other family documents, and therefore, its authenticity should not be questioned. They further described the claims made in the petition as baseless and asserted that they would be dismissed through due legal process.

The case took another turn when Sunjay Kapur’s mother also challenged the will. She claimed she had no prior knowledge of the document and raised objections regarding the completeness of asset disclosures.
