In a landmark effort to spotlight cybersecurity leadership in national security institutions, the Centre for Police Technology has announced an initiative to identify and honour the Top 10 Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) from across India’s Police Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), and Defence Services.
This prestigious recognition seeks to celebrate CISOs who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and operational excellence in protecting India’s critical digital infrastructure.
Nominations are now open, inviting both self-nominations and peer recommendations. Eligible candidates must currently serve as CISOs in any of the following units:
• State Police and Union Territories
• Paramilitary Forces
• Central agencies such as CBI, ED, SFIO, FIU-India, NIA, NCB, and CBDT
• Defence Forces, including the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force
Select units such as Anti-Corruption Bureaux (ACB) and coastal security forces may also be considered where there is significant involvement in cybersecurity and digital forensics.
A national jury comprising cybersecurity experts will evaluate candidates based on:
• Publicly available information (including social media and official websites)
• Peer and expert feedback
• Nominations and recommendations received
• Interviews with relevant stakeholders and the public
The Top 10 CISOs will be felicitated by the Centre for Police Technology and their contributions will be highlighted through national media coverage.
This initiative aims not only to recognise individual excellence but also to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and digital resilience within India’s frontline security forces.
