The Uttar Pradesh Medical Supply Corporation has blacklisted Ujjain-based Bochem Healthcare Private Limited for five years after several batches of medicines supplied by the company allegedly failed quality tests and security deposit cheques worth nearly ₹1.91 crore were found to be forged.

The company had supplied medicines to the corporation between 2021 and 2024 for distribution to government hospitals and healthcare institutions across Uttar Pradesh. Routine quality testing later found that several batches did not meet prescribed standards, prompting the corporation to begin a detailed inquiry.

Drug Batches Failed Quality Tests

According to officials, many of the medicines found to be substandard were used for seasonal illnesses and general health conditions. After laboratory reports flagged quality deficiencies, the supply of the affected batches was stopped.

Hospitals were instructed to discontinue use of the medicines and segregate available stocks to prevent any possible risk to patient safety. The findings raised concern over medicine quality checks in public procurement.

The corporation then initiated contractual action against the company and issued notices seeking an explanation. Officials said the response received was not found satisfactory within the stipulated period.

Forged Security Cheques Under Probe

As proceedings began to forfeit the company’s security deposit, officials reportedly found another serious irregularity. Cheques worth approximately ₹1.91 crore submitted by the company as security deposits appeared suspicious during internal verification.

Further scrutiny allegedly confirmed that the cheques were forged. With this finding, the matter moved beyond quality-related violations and raised concerns of possible financial fraud.

The corporation lodged a complaint at Sushant Golf City police station in Lucknow. Police have registered a case and begun examining how the alleged forged cheques were submitted and whether verification procedures were bypassed.

Five-Year Ban From Government Tenders

Following the findings, the Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh Medical Supply Corporation ordered the company’s blacklisting across the state for five years. The firm will not be allowed to participate in government tenders or procurement processes linked to Uttar Pradesh during this period.

Officials said the decision was taken to protect transparency, accountability and integrity in public procurement.

Police and departmental authorities are now examining drug quality records, financial documents and procurement procedures linked to the case. Investigators are also trying to determine whether additional individuals were involved. Further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.
