Hackers are targeting celebrities and stealing their confidential information like passwords and bank account details with the help of malicious links sent via emails and text messages.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former US President Barack Obama and Amazon chief Jeff Bezos among other big personalities, now, local TV artists and celebrities are falling prey to phishing attacks.

Hackers are targeting celebrities and stealing their confidential information like passwords and bank account details with the help of malicious links sent via emails and text messages.

Turkish group ‘Ayyildiz Tim’ had hacked actor Amitabh Bachchan’s Twitter account in 2019, as such cases remain to be in the rise.

Recently, actor Mayur Vakani, who plays the role of ‘Sunderlal’ in the popular ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’ show, fell prey to a phishing scam. Vakani, who enjoys a huge fan following on Instagram, is active on the social media platform and keeps sharing his personal and professional stories. Sadly, his Instagram account was also hacked.

Another such victim is ‘Basanni Baa’ girl from ‘Yajamana’ — Tanya Hope of Sandalwood. Her fans were shocked when posts on hacking were shared on her account, and her profile picture was deleted.

Vakani and Hope did not post anything on Instagram after the digital assaults.

The Instagram accounts of three other Kannada actors — Ashika Ranganath, Manvitha Kamath and Vasishta N Simha — were also hacked after they received click bait links claiming copyright violations, to which they responded.

‘Dia’ actor Dheekshith Shetty and multilingual actress and former member of Parliament, Ramya, had also fallen prey to phishing attacks.
