The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against a South Central Railway technician and several unidentified public servants for allegedly cheating a woman and her son of ₹20 lakh on the promise of securing a Railway job. The case has been registered by the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Bureau in Visakhapatnam.

CBI Names Railway Technician in FIR

According to the FIR, the accused has been identified as Moganati Kishore Kumar, a Technician Grade-I posted at the Carriage and Wagon Depot in Machilipatnam under the Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway.

Investigators have alleged that Kumar, along with other unidentified public servants, induced the complainant to pay ₹20 lakh by assuring employment for her son in the Railways. The agency has stated that the accused had no lawful authority to provide such an appointment.

Money Trail Under Scrutiny

The CBI has alleged that the money was collected dishonestly under the false promise of arranging a government job, but the commitment was not fulfilled. Investigators are now examining financial transactions, communication records and other documents to establish the money trail.

The agency is also probing whether other Railway officials or intermediaries were involved in the alleged conspiracy. Investigators are expected to assess whether similar promises were made to other job seekers.

Expert Warns Against Paying for Jobs

Cybercrime expert and former IPS officer Prof. Triveni Singh said employment frauds increasingly rely on social engineering rather than sophisticated technology. He advised job seekers not to pay money in exchange for government jobs and said public sector recruitment takes place only through officially notified selection processes.

He also urged candidates to verify recruitment advertisements through official government websites and report any demand for money in the name of employment to law enforcement agencies. The CBI investigation is continuing, and further action may follow if more individuals are found to be involved.
