A major cyber fraud network operating across multiple regions has been dismantled, with police arresting 38 individuals and uncovering scams exceeding ₹10 crore. The crackdown, conducted under “Operation Mule Hunt,” highlights the scale and sophistication of organised online financial fraud targeting victims through deceptive digital schemes.
Operation Mule Hunt Leads to Mass Arrests
According to police officials, the arrests were carried out over a 15-day period as part of an intensified drive against cybercrime.
“In the last 15 days, 38 accused have been arrested from different areas of Dungarpur district under Operation Mule Hunt,” Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar said.
Authorities confirmed that the accused were linked to cyber fraud cases registered across the country. So far, 17 cases have been formally registered against the group, with further investigations ongoing. The total fraud amount has already crossed ₹10 crore and is expected to rise as more links are uncovered.

Modus Operandi: Investment, Trading and Escort Scams
Investigators revealed that the network used multiple fraudulent schemes to lure victims. These included fake investment opportunities, online trading platforms, and escort service scams designed to extract money under false pretences.
The accused reportedly operated from different parts of India as well as abroad, including locations such as Dubai, indicating a cross-border dimension to the fraud. Victims were targeted through digital communication channels and persuaded to transfer funds with promises of high returns or services.
Seizures and Digital Evidence Collected
During the operation, law enforcement agencies seized significant digital evidence. This included 73 mobile phones, 136 SIM cards, a luxury vehicle, and other electronic devices believed to have been used in executing the scams.
Officials stated that multiple investigative teams have been deployed to analyse the seized devices and trace financial trails. Bank accounts linked to the accused and their associates are currently under scrutiny to identify further victims and financial flows.
Public Advisory on Rising Cyber Fraud Risks
With cyber fraud cases increasing nationwide, police have issued a strong advisory urging citizens to remain cautious while engaging in online financial transactions.
Authorities have specifically warned against sharing sensitive information such as bank account details, Aadhaar numbers, PAN data, or ATM credentials over calls or mobile applications.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials expect additional arrests and recoveries as the probe progresses. The operation underscores the growing threat of organised cybercrime networks and the need for heightened public awareness and vigilance.
