The Central Bureau of Investigation has intensified its probe into the alleged NEET-UG question paper leak, arresting three individuals and expanding the investigation across Bihar and Jharkhand. The arrested accused were brought to Patna from Jharkhand, where they underwent medical examination before being taken into custody for interrogation on remand.

School Officials and Journalist Arrested

Those arrested include Ehsanul Haque, Principal of Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Vice-Principal Imtiazul Haque and local journalist Jamaluddin. After completion of medical formalities, all three were produced before a special court, which granted their remand to the investigating agency for questioning.

The arrests form part of a wider probe into alleged irregularities connected to the conduct of the national medical entrance examination. Officials said the CBI is examining the role of each accused and trying to determine how the alleged leak was executed and circulated.

According to official sources, the agency took over the case from the Bihar Police’s Economic Offences Unit and has since widened the scope of the investigation. So far, five arrests have been made from Bihar and Jharkhand combined.

Investigators are looking into whether the alleged paper leak was part of an organised racket operating across multiple locations. Technical evidence, digital records and communication data are being analysed to reconstruct the sequence of events.

Officials are also examining possible financial transactions linked to the alleged conspiracy. The agency is probing whether the leak was confined to one centre or connected to a broader network operating across different places.

Preliminary findings have pointed to possible irregularities in the management and supervision of examination centres. The CBI is also examining whether lapses in security protocols or local-level involvement contributed to the alleged breach.

Exam Integrity Under Scrutiny

The case has raised serious concerns over the credibility of competitive examinations, particularly because NEET-UG is one of the country’s most important entrance tests for medical aspirants. The allegations have triggered anxiety among students and parents, while also raising questions about examination safeguards.

Interrogation of the arrested individuals is underway, with investigators recording statements and cross-checking details against digital and documentary evidence. The agency has indicated that the probe is still progressing and that premature conclusions should be avoided.

Officials have said all aspects of the case are being examined and further arrests cannot be ruled out. The controversy has renewed calls for stronger monitoring, improved technological safeguards and stricter enforcement to protect the transparency of high-stakes examinations.
