The Bihar State Women’s Commission has registered a harassment case against Bhanu Pratap Singh, an Indian Police Service officer currently serving as the Superintendent of Police in Khagaria district, following a formal complaint lodged by his wife on Monday. The complainant, Puja Singh, approached the statutory body alleging harassment and leveled several serious charges against the senior police official. Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, the panel initiated proceedings to address the safety and rights of the complainant.
Three-day administrative deadline to provide security
Addressing concerns related to the safety and fundamental rights of the complainant, the commission has dispatched an official communication to senior administrative authorities. Commission chairperson Apsara issued clear directives instructing the relevant officials to arrange adequate security and provide all necessary support to the aggrieved woman. The administrative machinery has been given a strict three-day deadline to ensure that these protection measures are put in place effectively.
IPS officer summoned to present response in person
To facilitate a fair inquiry into the accusations, the women’s rights body has issued a formal summons to the Khagaria police chief. The IPS officer has been directed to appear in person before the commission’s office to respond to the allegations and place his version of events on record. The summons requires his direct presence during the upcoming hearing rather than representation through an intermediary.
Commission initiates inquiry after hearing complainant
Commission chairperson Apsara and deputy secretary Vandana Kumari confirmed the developments, stating that the action follows a direct hearing of the complainant’s grievances. According to panel officials, the decision to summon the serving officer was taken after examining the serious allegations raised by Puja Singh during her appearance. Further procedural steps will be determined once the officer presents his formal explanation before the commission.
