Hardoi: The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended Hardoi District Basic Education Officer Dr Ajit Singh following allegations of serious administrative irregularities and procedural lapses. A departmental inquiry has also been ordered against him after a preliminary probe reportedly confirmed multiple complaints.
Inquiry Committee Submitted Report
According to official information, several complaints had been lodged against the BSA, including allegations of missing official records, irregularities in the recruitment process and delays in processing pension and other post-retirement benefits.

Acting on these complaints, District Magistrate Anunay Jha constituted a three-member inquiry committee headed by City Magistrate Sanjay Kumar. SDM Sadar Sanjay Agrahari and DIET Principal Ramendra Singh were appointed as members of the committee.
The committee’s report reportedly confirmed several serious irregularities. Among its key findings was the disappearance of appointment records relating to 61 candidates.
Appointment Records Missing
The report also found alleged non-compliance with government guidelines during the ECCE Educator recruitment examination. In addition, files related to pension and other dues of retired teachers were found to have remained pending for extended periods.
The inquiry report was submitted to the District Magistrate on June 20. Based on its findings, the District Magistrate recommended suspension of the BSA and initiation of departmental proceedings.
Acting on the recommendation, Additional Chief Secretary, Basic Education, Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma, issued the suspension order.
Departmental Probe Ordered
Under the order, Dr Ajit Singh has been attached to the Directorate of Basic Education during the suspension period. The Joint Director of Education has been appointed as the inquiry officer to conduct a comprehensive departmental investigation into the allegations.
Administrative sources said the scope of the inquiry will not be limited to the missing appointment records. Investigators will also examine whether the alleged irregularities resulted from negligence, procedural violations or deliberate misconduct.
The action has drawn attention within the Basic Education Department. Officials said transparency in recruitment procedures and safeguarding official records are fundamental administrative responsibilities, and lapses in these areas will be dealt with strictly.
The departmental inquiry is currently underway. Further administrative or legal action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
