Police in Etah have uncovered an illegal institution operating under the name of BS Medical College and University in Mehmoodpur Nagariya village of the Marhara area, where fake degrees and marksheets were allegedly being manufactured under the name of Hapur-based Monad University. During a raid on the premises, investigators recovered several finished and semi-finished degrees along with other educational documents. Five people, including the manager Satendra, have been arrested as authorities expand the probe beyond the district level.
Seized Degrees and Verification
The institution allegedly enrolled students in various courses, collected substantial fees, and issued them fraudulent documents. A majority of the academic certificates recovered during the search bore the name of Monad University located in Hapur. Police suspect that these documents were being fabricated directly on the premises of the illegal institute. Investigators are sending letters to the concerned university in Hapur to verify whether the seized certificates were genuinely issued by them or forged locally, while communications have also been initiated at the state government level for a comprehensive inquiry.
Financial Probe and Gangster Act
Investigators are scrutinizing the financial transactions of the institution to track down the illicit proceeds. Police are examining the bank accounts of the arrested suspects, comparing them against the fees collected from students and other monetary records. Inquiries are underway to determine the total number of students enrolled and how many of them received fake marksheets or degrees. Concurrently, authorities are gathering information from government land and revenue records regarding the immovable and movable properties registered in the names of the accused. If evidence establishes that these properties were acquired through illegal means, police plan to invoke the Gangster Act and initiate property attachment proceedings.
Inter-Departmental Investigation Underway
Police officials stated that additional persons or gang members could be named in the case as the investigation progresses. Statements and formal complaints from affected students will also be incorporated into the case to clarify the roles of everyone involved in the racket. Etah Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Ilamaran G. confirmed that communications have already been sent to the District Magistrate, Chief Medical Officer, and other relevant departments at the district level. The SSP added that a formal letter is being dispatched to the state government to ensure a detailed and impartial probe into the unauthorized institution.
