Disney’s Dark Secret: Hackers Leak Over 1TB of Sensitive Data—See What They Found
Disney hit by a major data breach! Hackers claim to have leaked over 1TB of sensitive info, including project plans and internal messages.
NEW DELHI: Entertainment giant Walt Disney is investigating a data breach after a hacking group called Nullbulge claimed to have leaked over 1 terabyte of the company’s internal data. This leak reportedly includes information about unreleased projects, employee login credentials, computer code, and more.
What Information Was Leaked?
According to a Wall Street Journal report, Nullbulge claims to have accessed “almost 10,000 channels” on Disney’s Slack communication platform. This allegedly allowed them to download “every message and file possible,” including:
- Details about unreleased projects: This could potentially reveal upcoming movies, theme park attractions, or other Disney ventures still under development.
- Login credentials: While the extent of leaked login information is unclear, it raises concerns about potential unauthorized access to Disney systems.
- Computer code: Leaked code could expose Disney’s internal operations and software development practices.
- Other internal communications: The leak may also contain discussions on marketing strategies, employee evaluations, and other sensitive company information.

Motivations of the Hacker Group
Nullbulge, whose identity remains anonymous, claims to be motivated by artist rights concerns. The Wall Street Journal report suggests the group was unhappy with Disney’s artist contracts, use of artificial intelligence, and “blatant disregard for the consumer.”
The group leaked the information on their social media account, claiming users could “see what goes on behind the doors.” Additionally, Nullbulge shared data points like daily attendance figures at Disneyland Paris, hinting at their potential access to broader company systems.

Disney’s Response and Industry Concerns
Disney has reportedly confirmed they are investigating the matter. This data breach comes on the heels of a recent incident where AT&T paid hackers to delete millions of stolen customer records. These events highlight the growing threat of cyberattacks faced by major corporations and the importance of robust cybersecurity measures.
Uncertainties Remain
The full scope of the Disney data breach and the potential impact on the company and its consumers are still emerging. As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen if Disney will disclose further details about the leaked information and what steps they will take to address the security vulnerabilities exploited by Nullbulge.
