The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a late-night raid at the Punjab Vigilance Bureau office in Mohali as part of its ongoing probe into the bribery case involving suspended Punjab Police DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar. During the operation, the agency detained the reader of a senior vigilance officer over alleged involvement in corrupt practices linked to the case.
Raid Conducted in Follow-Up Action
The raid was carried out as a follow-up to the bribery investigation against suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, a 2009-batch IPS officer who was arrested by the CBI in October 2025. According to reports, the central agency searched the Vigilance Bureau office in Mohali late Monday evening and questioned officials during the operation.

Allegations in the Bhullar Bribery Case
The case against Bhullar relates to allegations that he conspired with his aide, Kirshanu Sharda, to demand ₹8 lakh from a scrap dealer. Investigators alleged that the money was sought partly to settle an FIR registered at the Sirhind police station and partly as a recurring payment to allow the complainant to continue operating his business without interference.
The CBI had arrested Bhullar in connection with the alleged bribery network, following complaints and surveillance inputs gathered during the investigation.
Special Court Took Cognisance of Case
In March 2026, a special CBI court took cognisance of the chargesheet filed in the matter. The court reportedly observed that electronic evidence, witness statements, and a “controlled call” between Bhullar and his aide prima facie established a criminal conspiracy.
The CBI’s latest action indicates that the agency is widening its investigation into the alleged bribery and corruption network linked to suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar. With parallel probes into bribery and disproportionate assets already underway, investigators are expected to further examine official records, financial transactions, and the role of individuals connected to the case. Authorities have not yet released a detailed official statement on the Mohali searches.
