Bihar Police have busted an alleged online parcel fraud racket in Rohtas district, where expensive electronic items ordered through e-commerce platforms were replaced with cheap goods such as soap during delivery. A Special Investigation Team arrested five accused after a complaint from Flipkart exposed suspected manipulation in the parcel handling process.
According to police officials, suspicious activity was detected on June 13 evening when the local Flipkart team flagged irregularities in deliveries. Several suspects were brought to Nagar police station for questioning, where investigators found that some accused were working as delivery personnel while another handled duplication and repackaging of high-value goods.

Parcel Tampering During Delivery
Police said the gang intercepted parcels during the delivery process, removed original electronic items and replaced them with counterfeit or low-value products before resealing the packages. Customers then received tampered parcels, often without immediate detection.
Investigators said the operation appeared carefully structured, with different members assigned specific roles to avoid suspicion. Two accused were allegedly engaged as delivery workers, while another was involved in repackaging and duplication of goods.
Police also said two alleged masterminds from Samastipur district had lured workers into the illegal operation by offering a monthly salary of ₹40,000.
Electronics and Packaging Tools Recovered
Acting on technical inputs, police tracked a suspicious vehicle and intercepted it in the Amas area of Gaya district. Two key accused were arrested from the vehicle during the raid.
A search led to the recovery of several electronic items, including Sony cameras, laptops, mobile phones, Apple earbuds, smartwatches, GoPro cameras, earphones, chargers and data cables. Police also recovered sealing machines, packaging equipment and other tools allegedly used to tamper with parcels.
Officials said preliminary findings suggest the recovered items were stolen from multiple parcels and kept for illegal resale. The seized goods are now being examined as part of the investigation.
Five Accused Held, Wider Network Under Probe
The arrested accused have been identified as Satyakam alias Kishu, Amar Raja, Chandan Kumar, Pradeep Kumar Prince and Harshal Kumar. All are residents of different areas of Samastipur district.
Police said the accused were involved in replacing valuable goods during delivery and misleading customers at the time of handover. Investigators are now examining financial transactions, mobile records and digital communication data linked to the accused.
Authorities suspect the racket may not be limited to Bihar and are probing possible links in other states. Police have advised customers to inspect parcels carefully at the time of delivery and report suspicious activity immediately. Further investigation is underway to identify additional members of the syndicate.
