AHMEDABAD: Masked thieves broke into an electronic goods warehouse near Navapura village, close to Sanathal Circle, escaping with high-value gadgets valued at approximately ₹1 crore, according to officials. The late-night burglary targeted a distribution facility belonging to Ingram Micro, resulting in the theft of 70 iPhones, 36 Apple Watches, several laptops, and premium accessories. Preliminary findings show that around three suspects accessed the property via an open agricultural field at the rear, forced open a back entrance, and took the consignment while keeping their faces concealed with cloth. Investigators from the Changodar police station are currently examining footage from on-site closed-circuit television cameras to identify the culprits and trace the path taken to transport the stolen inventory.
Security Guard Alerts Manager After Rear Doors Found Broken
The break-in came to light during the early hours of October 21 when an on-duty security guard conducted a perimeter check. Sometime between 1:00 am and 2:30 am, the guard discovered that the facility’s rear doors had been tampered with and forced open. Upon stepping inside, the staff noticed several cartons torn open and scattered across the storage floor. The guard promptly contacted the warehouse manager, Sudhir Nair, a resident of Godrej Garden City in Jagatpur, who arrived shortly thereafter to assess the scale of the intrusion.
An inventory audit conducted by the management confirmed substantial losses across multiple high-end consumer technology categories. The missing stock included 40 units of the iPhone 17 and 30 units of the iPhone 16. In addition to smartphones, the suspects took 36 Apple Watches, 15 Dell laptops, 11 HP laptops, iPad Pro devices, 20 iPad keyboards, and a collection of laptop bags and supplementary electronic items. Nair formally lodged a police complaint detailing the estimated total loss of ₹1 crore, prompting senior officers to inspect the crime scene.
Police Teams Formed to Review Security Camera Footage
Changodar police have deployed multiple specialised teams to handle the investigation, coordinated under Ahmedabad Rural Deputy Superintendent of Police Neelam Goswami. Forensics and local crime detection personnel are closely reviewing visual recordings captured by internal and external surveillance cameras. The footage confirmed that roughly three masked perpetrators breached the rear perimeter through an open field, spent considerable time sorting through specific crates, and subsequently fled toward a nearby roadway carrying the equipment.
Investigators are trying to establish the exact method used to breach the rear door without alerting security personnel stationed at the premises. A major line of inquiry focuses on the logistics involved in shifting such a bulky, high-value consignment away from the facility in a short timeframe. Police patrols along connecting routes around Sanathal Circle and nearby highways are checking potential transport vehicles that passed through the vicinity during the estimated window of the theft.
Investigators Probe Possibility of Inside Knowledge in Heist
Given the precise targeting of expensive consignments within the sprawling facility, detectives have not ruled out the involvement of someone familiar with the warehouse operations. Officers are assessing whether current or former personnel provided details regarding internal layout, high-value storage bays, and guard movements. Knowledge of the vulnerable rear entrance and the open field access suggests prior familiarity with the site.
Police noted that while this operational angle remains under active scrutiny, no insider complicity has been officially established so far. Authorities are cross-verifying visitor logs, shift rosters, and local movements around Navapura village. No arrests have been made, and further legal action will depend on the recovery of technical evidence and positive suspect identification from the ongoing video analysis.
