DuckDuckGo Launches ₹3,327 Privacy-Focused Sunglasses Without AI

DuckDuckGo has launched a $35 (₹3,327) pair of conventional sunglasses as a pointed response to the growing popularity of AI-enabled smart glasses. Developed with eyewear brand Knockaround, the DuckDuckGo Paso Robles sunglasses require no charging, smartphone application or internet connection and are being promoted as a privacy-conscious alternative to camera-equipped wearables.

A Deliberately Non-Smart Alternative

The launch contrasts directly with products such as Meta Smart Glasses, which offer access to AI assistants and cameras capable of recording point-of-view video. While such devices have gained popularity, they have also raised concerns among people who may be recorded or observed without clear consent.

DuckDuckGo’s product avoids those concerns by excluding cameras, microphones, AI features and connected technology altogether. The company’s campaign presents this simplicity as the product’s main appeal, describing the glasses as ordinary sunglasses rather than a wearable computing device.

In a promotional post, DuckDuckGo summarised the concept with the message: “No camera. No AI. Just Normal Sunglasses.”

Privacy Concerns Turned Into Marketing

The sunglasses appear to use privacy concerns surrounding smart glasses as the basis of a marketing campaign. Their design reportedly places the DuckDuckGo logo in the area where cameras are commonly located on connected eyewear, visually reinforcing the absence of surveillance hardware.

The Paso Robles model features polarised lenses, UV400 protection and a matte finish. The product is also offered with a lifetime warranty, according to the visible product information.

DuckDuckGo has presented the glasses as a practical option for users who want conventional eyewear without charging requirements, data collection or dependence on companion software. The product therefore competes with smart glasses less through technology than through the deliberate rejection of it.

Priced at $35 With International Shipping

The DuckDuckGo Paso Robles sunglasses are available through Knockaround for $35. The store offers international shipping, although delivery and import charges are not included in the listed price.

The campaign positions the product as an affordable alternative to significantly more expensive smart eyewear. By focusing on privacy, simplicity and familiar sunglasses features, DuckDuckGo is using a conventional product to make a broader point about the risks and social discomfort associated with camera-enabled wearable technology.
