The syndicate allegedly leveraged dark web channels, encrypted communication platforms, closed invite-only groups, and digital payment systems to facilitate discreet home deliveries of high-grade cannabis and hashish to an exclusive clientele.
According to preliminary investigative details, the illicit network focused its operations on high-income localities including Arya Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Swaroop Nagar, and Civil Lines. Market pricing for the contraband was structured for a premium target demographic, with fresh cannabis buds retailing for approximately ₹1,500 per gram and high-potency hashish commanding prices around ₹4,500 per gram.
Strict Vetting and Encrypted Logistics
Investigators report that the syndicate maintained high operational security by segmenting its subscriber base into small, compartmentalized groups. Access for new buyers was granted only after rigorous vetting, requiring verified referrals from existing trusted members. Any administrative discrepancy or suspicion of law enforcement scrutiny resulted in immediate channel deletion and blacklisting.
To further evade digital and physical surveillance, initial cash and product exchanges were systematically rotated across shifting public locations. Once a buyer established credibility, transactions transitioned to end-to-end encrypted voice calls on platforms like WhatsApp.

Addressing the operational dynamics of dark web crime, former IPS officer and cyber security expert Prof. Triveni Singh noted that while encrypted communications obscure initial contact, physical delivery mechanisms and financial trails remain vulnerable points for law enforcement intervention.
Singh explained that investigators rely on digital forensics, blockchain analysis, mobile communication logs, and targeted human intelligence to dismantle such networks. He warned the public against engaging in online illegal narcotics trade, emphasizing the severe legal consequences under Indian law.

Police authorities confirmed that technical teams are actively mapping the financial networks, digital communication records, and delivery routes associated with the suspect groups. Multiple delivery methods—ranging from dedicated courier riders on two-wheelers to restricted peer-to-peer drops—are currently under scrutiny.
