Patna. Police have arrested 10 people from Arwal and Munger districts in connection with an alleged fraud racket linked to the Bihar Constable Recruitment Examination. The action follows an investigation into irregularities detected during the recruitment process conducted by the Central Selection Board of Constables, where biometric checks reportedly exposed fingerprint mismatches and suspected impersonation.

Biometric Mismatches Expose Fraud

According to investigators, the alleged fraud came to light during the Physical Efficiency Test, when biometric verification showed discrepancies in the fingerprints and identity records of several candidates. The mismatches raised suspicion and prompted officials to examine records from the written examination and subsequent verification stages.

The preliminary probe suggests that some candidates may have used impersonators to appear in the written examination on their behalf. Investigators are also examining the role of suspected “solver” or “scholar” gangs, which allegedly take competitive examinations for candidates in exchange for money.

Case Registered Against 563 Accused

Based on the findings, a case has been registered at the Secretariat Police Station against 563 accused individuals. Since the suspects are spread across several districts, special police teams were formed to conduct raids and make arrests across Bihar.

As part of the operation, 10 people were apprehended from Arwal and Munger. Those arrested include alleged candidates as well as individuals suspected of appearing in examinations on behalf of others or helping facilitate the fraud.

Police have initiated legal action against 88 persons so far. Efforts are continuing to identify and arrest the remaining suspects linked to the alleged recruitment scam.

Investigators are examining the exact role of each accused and trying to establish the full extent of the network. Police are also reviewing examination records, identity documents, biometric data, financial transactions and communication links to map the alleged conspiracy.

Officials believe that biometric verification played a key role in detecting the irregularities. The comparison of records collected during the written examination and the PET reportedly revealed inconsistencies that may have otherwise remained unnoticed.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further arrests have not been ruled out. All arrested individuals have been produced before the court, while police continue to trace the activities of suspected solver gangs and other beneficiaries of the alleged fraud network.
