New Delhi: The National Testing Agency has announced that the Indian Air Force will be used for the first time to transport NEET question papers, introducing a new layer of security for the national medical entrance examination scheduled for June 21. The move is aimed at strengthening exam integrity, preventing paper leaks and ensuring secure delivery of question papers across the country.
NTA Adds New Security Layer
The decision marks a major upgrade in the security framework for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, one of India’s largest competitive examinations. According to NTA Director General Abhishek Singh, multiple layers of security protocols have been introduced this year to prevent compromise at any stage of the examination process.

Officials said the involvement of the Indian Air Force will help ensure secure and time-bound movement of question papers from printing facilities to designated storage centres and examination hubs. The measure is expected to reduce risks linked to road transport and excessive human handling.
The NTA has stated that the entire process, from printing and packaging to final distribution, will be monitored through strict surveillance systems. Authorities said the objective is to maintain complete confidentiality and prevent breaches during the examination cycle.
Over 73,000 Candidates Expected
As per official data, more than 73,000 candidates are expected to appear for the examination across 208 centres in 24 cities. Preparations have been intensified across states to ensure proper arrangements for electricity, water supply, transport and security at examination venues.
In Telangana, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao has directed district administrations to coordinate closely with all departments for the smooth conduct of the examination. Senior health officials have said staffing and infrastructure arrangements at centres have been completed.
Police officials have also been instructed to strengthen security deployment at examination centres. Director General of Police, Law and Order, Mahesh Bhagwat has called for constant vigilance and monitoring of social media platforms to prevent misinformation or rumours that could disrupt the examination.
Authorities Focus On Leak-Proof System
Officials associated with the process said recent concerns over question paper leaks and digital manipulation in competitive examinations have led to stronger safeguards. The new framework includes physical security checks, digital tracking, logistical controls and real-time monitoring.
Experts believe the involvement of the Indian Air Force could help restore public confidence in the examination system and set a stronger standard for future high-stakes tests. Authorities have urged candidates and parents to rely only on official communications and avoid unverified information.
Students have been advised to reach examination centres on time and carry all required documents as per official guidelines. Officials said the enhanced measures are intended to ensure a fair, transparent and disruption-free examination environment.
