The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a nominated member of the Cantonment Board in Meerut in a bribery case involving an alleged demand of ₹3 lakh. The agency said the accused was taken into custody after being caught while allegedly demanding and accepting the bribe in connection with the continuation of a local tender.
Alleged Demand Over Gandhi Bagh Tender
According to the CBI, the case was registered on May 29, 2026, against the accused on allegations of demanding illegal gratification of ₹3,00,000. The alleged demand was linked to the smooth continuation of a tender concerning parking, canteen and entry fees at Gandhi Bagh in Meerut Cantonment, Uttar Pradesh.

The agency said the tender had been awarded to a private firm being operated by the complainant on behalf of his mother. The bribe was allegedly sought in relation to that arrangement.
Trap Laid on May 29
The CBI said it laid a trap on May 29 and caught the accused red-handed. According to the agency, the nominated member was apprehended while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of ₹3,00,000 from the complainant.
The arrest was made the same day as the trap operation. The case has been described by the agency as part of its action in a bribery matter linked to public office.
Court Production and Probe Continue
The arrested accused is being produced before the competent court in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, the CBI said. No further details about the accused were disclosed in the release.
The agency added that the investigation is continuing.
