Chandigarh. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notices to the Central Bureau of Investigation, the Union Territory administration and other concerned authorities on a petition seeking an independent CBI probe into the alleged fraudulent transfer of nearly 60 acres of land linked to the Punjab Police Primary Consumers Cooperative Society Limited in New Chandigarh.
Petition Alleges Illegal Transfer to Private Builders
The petition, filed by the Punjab Police Primary Consumers Cooperative Society Limited, alleges that approximately 60 acres of land in the New Chandigarh area were illegally transferred to private builders. The petitioners have claimed that the transaction raises serious suspicions of collusion and lack of transparency.

It has also been alleged that no proper tendering process or transparent allocation mechanism was followed. The petition claims that the process was carried out under questionable circumstances and that the legality of the transaction requires independent scrutiny.
Builder Nexus and Fake Transactions Under Scanner
The petitioners alleged a nexus between senior-level individuals and private developers, claiming that it led not only to the transfer of land but also to large-scale financial transactions without any actual sale or purchase activity.
During the hearing, the court was informed that several complaints had already been submitted to higher authorities, but no FIR had been registered so far. The petitioners expressed concern that if the matter remains within local jurisdiction, influential individuals may escape scrutiny.
Next Hearing Scheduled for August 20
Taking note of the seriousness of the allegations, the High Court issued notices to the CBI, the Union Territory administration and other concerned parties, directing them to file detailed replies. The court observed that the allegations involved issues of financial and institutional transparency.
The court has scheduled the next hearing for August 20 and directed all concerned agencies to submit comprehensive reports and clarify their position. The case will determine whether the investigation should be handed over to the CBI or continue under existing authorities.
