Faridabad. A case of examination fraud surfaced during the Haryana Civil Services Examination 2026 after biometric verification exposed an alleged impersonation attempt at an exam centre in Sector 7. A candidate appearing as a dummy in place of his friend was caught when his fingerprints failed to match the system records. Police have arrested both accused and started further investigation.

Fingerprint Mismatch Raises Suspicion at Exam Centre

According to officials, the incident occurred while the preliminary examination conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission was underway. During biometric attendance, the fingerprints of one candidate repeatedly failed to match the official records. After several unsuccessful attempts, officials became suspicious and initiated a detailed inquiry.

During questioning, the youth admitted that he was not the real candidate and had appeared in the examination on behalf of his friend. Investigators found that both the accused and the actual candidate were preparing for civil services examinations while staying in Delhi. Their friendship later allegedly turned into a conspiracy to use unfair means to clear the exam.

Real Candidate Waited Outside as Friend Took Exam

It has been reported that the real candidate persuaded his friend to appear in the examination on his behalf. The dummy candidate was initially hesitant because of the risk of biometric verification, but eventually agreed after repeated persuasion.

As part of the plan, the dummy candidate entered the examination hall and attempted the paper, while the real candidate waited outside in a car. When he learned that the impersonation attempt had been exposed inside the centre, he fled from the spot. Police later used technical surveillance and location tracking to apprehend him.

Officials confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused under relevant legal provisions. Both individuals are in custody and are being interrogated. Investigators are examining whether the case was an isolated act between two individuals or linked to a larger organised racket involved in examination fraud.

Authorities have warned that attempts to compromise the fairness of examinations will invite strict legal action. Aspirants have also been advised not to adopt illegal means to achieve success. The incident has again underlined the role of vigilance, biometric systems and technical surveillance in protecting the credibility of competitive examinations.
