With the rapid surge in anonymization technologies, law enforcement agencies across the world are facing increasing challenges from VPN (Virtual Private Network) and TOR (The Onion Router) enabled organized cyber crimes. Criminal networks are exploiting these tools to mask identities, bypass jurisdictional boundaries, and execute sophisticated frauds, ransomware attacks, and financial crimes, making investigations more complex and time-consuming.
Experts note that tracing such criminals requires advanced forensic capabilities, cross-border coordination, and deep technical expertise. Traditional investigation methods often fall short when dealing with layered anonymity provided by VPN chains and TOR networks, leading to delays in attribution and arrests.
Addressing this critical issue, the Centre for Police Technology is organizing a specialized webinar on “VPN Enabled Cyber Crimes and Investigation” on 14th April at 8:00 PM (IST) via Zoom. The session will cover the fundamentals of VPN and TOR, their misuse by organized cybercrime groups, and practical investigation techniques to identify, track, and apprehend offenders.
The session will be delivered by an experienced cyber expert who has successfully investigated and cracked multiple cases involving VPN and TOR-based anonymization, bringing real-world insights into modern cyber policing challenges.
The webinar will be moderated by Prof. Triveni Singh, a renowned cybercrime investigator and former IPS officer, who opted for voluntary retirement (VRS) to strengthen cyber policing initiatives at an international level.
Participants must register before 14th April, 4:00 PM at:
