The Bhadohi district administration has registered a case against nine NEET UG 2025 candidates for allegedly using fake certificates claiming dependency on freedom fighters during the counseling process. Officials said the fraud came to light after verification reports declared the documents to be forged.

Verification Uncovers Forged Certificates

After the first round of NEET UG 2025 counseling, the certificates of all candidates were sent for official verification. On August 27, the Director General of Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh, forwarded details of nine suspicious candidates to the District Magistrate (DM) for inquiry.

District Magistrate Shailesh Kumar Singh ordered a special verification team to review the documents. The report, submitted on Thursday, confirmed that the certificates in question were never issued by the DM’s office and bore fake seals and forged signatures.

FIR Registered in Bhadohi

Based on the findings, the DM directed officials to initiate legal action. Following this order, an FIR was registered at Gyanpur Kotwali police station against the nine candidates for attempting to secure admission using fraudulent documents.

Concerns Over Transparency in Admission Process

The case has raised serious concerns over the transparency and integrity of India’s premier medical entrance system. Attempts to exploit the reservation benefits for freedom fighter dependents through fake documentation not only undermine the admission process but also deny opportunities to genuine and deserving candidates.

Next Steps in the Investigation

Authorities have confirmed that further investigations are underway. Officials have warned that if more such fake certificates are discovered, legal action will be taken against all involved candidates without exception.
