Kochi | March 27, 2025 — A fraud case filed against noted music director Shaan Rahman has stirred up controversy in the entertainment world. The composer, known for his hits in Malayalam cinema, has been accused of defrauding Rs 38 lakh linked to a live concert event held in Kochi earlier this year.
The complaint was filed by event organiser Niju Raj Abraham at the Ernakulam South Police Station. According to him, Shaan had allegedly agreed to a financial deal to support the concert—‘Uyire – Shaan Rahman Live in Concert’—which was held on January 15. Niju claims the composer backed out after taking the money, triggering financial losses and legal chaos.
But Shaan, in a strongly worded statement released with his wife Zaira Shaan, has completely denied the charges. “The accusations are fabricated and an attempt to divert attention from real issues,” the statement read. He alleged that Niju had misled the media and public with false claims and was now trying to pressure him into a settlement.
Taking to social media, Shaan wrote:
“We faced several hurdles while organizing this concert, including a conflict with Mr. Niju Raj Abraham of Arora Entertainment. We have stayed transparent throughout and continue to cooperate with the investigation.”
He also emphasized that the case is under official investigation and asked the public not to jump to conclusions based on “one-sided narratives.”
Rahman’s legal team is reportedly preparing to counter the allegations and push back on what they say is a baseless attempt to tarnish the composer’s reputation.
While the police continue to look into the case, the music community and fans await clarity—wondering whether this was just a case of soured business dealings or something far more complex behind the curtains.
