UAE Cyber Security Council Thwarts Over 50,000 Daily Cyberattacks Targeting National Sectors
In cooperation with its partners, the UAE Cyber Security Council has successfully deterred over 50,000 cyberattacks per day targeting strategic national sectors, according to Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, the Head of Cyber Security for the Government of the UAE. Al Kuwaiti made the statement during the Oracle CloudWorld Tour Abu Dhabi 2023, which began on May 3 in the capital city.
Al Kuwaiti noted that the banking, financial, health, oil, and gas sectors are the most frequently targeted, but that all attacks are countered proactively and efficiently to protect the country’s digital sphere. The Council combats cyberattacks in line with the UAE’s information security standards and policies, and the country’s advanced digital infrastructure and capabilities are effective in countering malicious cyberattacks targeting government authorities.

The UAE ranks fifth in the Global Cybersecurity Index of the International Telecommunication Union of the United Nations, which assesses awareness of the importance of cybersecurity in 193 countries.
The UAE’s success in deterring cyberattacks is especially noteworthy in light of the increasing prevalence of cybercrime worldwide. Cyberattacks have been a growing concern for governments, businesses, and individuals in recent years, with hackers targeting sensitive information and disrupting critical infrastructure.
