Bank of America, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Blackstone are arranging $63 billion (₹5.99 lakh crore) in financing to fund Broadcom artificial intelligence chips and networking equipment for Anthropic, in one of the largest debt packages tied to the rapid buildout of AI infrastructure.
The financing will support the purchase of Broadcom AI accelerators and networking hardware that will be leased to Anthropic through a newly created special-purpose vehicle.
The deal highlights the growing role of banks and alternative asset managers in funding the vast computing capacity required by frontier AI companies.

Senior Debt Accounts for Most of Financing
About $43.5 billion (₹4.13 lakh crore) of the package, or roughly 69% of the total financing, is expected to take the form of first-lien loans or other senior debt.
Bank of America, Citigroup and Morgan Stanley are arranging the first-lien portion of the financing.
Blackstone will provide the committed part of the second-lien financing, which ranks below senior debt in the repayment structure.
Broadcom is also providing residual value support to lenders, effectively offering a degree of protection against a decline in the value of the chips and other infrastructure being financed.
The companies did not disclose the complete breakdown of the loan package.
Special-Purpose Vehicle to Buy and Lease Broadcom Hardware
The financing will be carried out through a newly formed special-purpose vehicle that will purchase Broadcom AI accelerators and networking equipment and lease them to Anthropic.
Deliveries are expected to begin in 2027 under a previously announced strategic compute-capacity agreement involving Broadcom.
The structure allows Anthropic to secure access to large amounts of computing hardware without directly purchasing all of the equipment itself.
The arrangement also reflects the increasing use of specialised financing structures as technology companies race to secure chips, networking systems and data-centre capacity for more complex AI workloads.
Deal Builds on Earlier Anthropic-Broadcom Financing
The latest financing follows an earlier agreement under which Apollo and Blackstone had agreed to support a $35 billion (₹3.33 lakh crore) expansion of Anthropic’s AI computing capacity linked to Broadcom.
Broadcom’s backstop under that earlier arrangement was worth up to $29 billion (₹2.76 lakh crore), according to a regulatory filing.
The new $63 billion package significantly expands the scale of financing tied to Anthropic’s computing requirements.
The deal comes as Anthropic pursues rapid growth in AI infrastructure while also preparing for a potentially record-breaking initial public offering.
Moody’s has described Broadcom as one of the strongest large technology companies, while also cautioning that risk could increase if several large financing transactions are undertaken over a short period to meet the substantial funding requirements of frontier AI laboratories.
