The Enforcement Directorate has questioned Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member Nadimul Haque following nearly 24 hours of searches across Kolkata, Delhi, and Ranchi in connection with an alleged 60 crore rupee financial fraud. The operation commenced at around 6:30 am on Monday and concluded on Tuesday morning, centering on transactions linked to the Urdu daily Akhbar-E-Mashriq, a publication associated with the lawmaker. Investigators reviewed financial records, ledgers, and digital equipment to trace the movement of capital and reconstruct the flow of funds under scrutiny.

Coordinated Searches Across Three Cities

The enforcement teams covered seven premises across Ranchi, Delhi, and Kolkata, including the newspaper’s operational office located in the Park Circus area of Kolkata. In Delhi, officials searched Haque’s residential premises as well as an office primarily utilized for party-related activities.

Investigators focused on gathering physical and digital material to determine the origin of the funds and their eventual destinations. Officials are currently examining whether illegal transactions were processed directly through the publication’s premises, while also verifying whether funds connected to the Trinamool Congress were involved in the accounts under investigation.

Questioning Following Lawmaker’s Return

Haque was brought back from Ranchi and questioned by officials at his office regarding the documentation and activities tied to the 60 crore rupee transaction. Agency sources stated that the lawmaker was unable to provide adequate documentation to substantiate the transactions examined during the questioning.

The agency is attempting to correlate the seized digital records with banking data to map out the complete money trail. The scrutiny forms part of a broader review into financial dealings involving political entities and associated individuals in West Bengal, with investigators focusing on identifying intermediaries and beneficiary accounts.

Proceedings Stem From Police Complaint

The central agency initiated the probe following a complaint registered with the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate last month regarding financial irregularities. Analysis of the seized records is continuing to determine the full extent of the financial network and establish the roles played by various entities.

Haque did not release an immediate comment regarding the searches or the allegations raised during the operation. Enforcement officials noted that the inquiry remains at an investigative stage, with final conclusions dependent on the outcome of the ongoing examination of records.
