Telangana Food Safety Department Seizes Banned Raw Egg Mayonnaise

The Telangana Food Safety Department has seized approximately 10 kilograms of banned raw egg mayonnaise during a statewide special enforcement drive aimed at ensuring compliance with the State government’s prohibition on the production, storage, sale and use of mayonnaise prepared from raw eggs. Officials said five food establishments were found violating the ban during the inspections.

According to the department, food safety officials inspected 131 food establishments across Telangana as part of the special enforcement campaign. During the inspections, five establishments were found producing, storing or using mayonnaise made from raw eggs in violation of the government’s notification. The prohibited products were seized and regulatory action has been initiated against the establishments concerned.

The Telangana government has prohibited the production, storage, sale and use of mayonnaise prepared from raw eggs in the interest of public health and food safety. Health experts have warned that raw egg mayonnaise may contain harmful bacteria such as Salmonella, which can cause food poisoning and other serious health complications.

The Food Safety Department said the objective of the statewide drive was to ensure strict compliance with the government ban and protect consumers from unsafe food products. Hotels, restaurants, cafés and other food business operators have been directed to use only approved and safe ingredients while fully complying with food safety regulations.

Officials stated that similar surprise inspections will continue across the State to monitor compliance. Any establishment found manufacturing, storing, selling or using banned raw egg mayonnaise will face strict legal action under the applicable provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.

The department has also urged consumers to remain vigilant and report any suspected use of prohibited food products at hotels, restaurants or other food establishments to the authorities so that prompt action can be taken to safeguard public health.
