Ancestral Property Allegedly Transferred Through Forged Jamabandi
The case relates to the Jitwarpur Kothi property, where owners Manish Mohan Sharma and Shailesh Mohan Sharma have alleged that their ancestral land was illegally transferred and sold through manipulated documents. The land was originally registered in the name of their ancestors, but was allegedly altered and reassigned to another individual through fraudulent means.
According to the victims, they became aware of the fraud only about 10 days ago when unknown individuals arrived at the property attempting to take possession of it. Alarmed by the development, the family reviewed official documents and discovered that a new jamabandi had been created in someone else’s name.
Holiday Record Entry Raises Questions Over Official Role
The most startling aspect of the case is the timing of the alleged fraud. It is claimed that the forged records were prepared on December 25, 2025, a government holiday. Reports suggest that despite the holiday, documents were processed late at night in the circle office, complete with timestamps, raising serious questions about procedural integrity and possible internal involvement.
The case has also drawn political attention. Local Member of Parliament Devesh Chandra Thakur raised concerns, stating that preparation of official land records on a holiday indicates grave irregularities. He has called for a high-level probe into the incident.
Landowners Submit Complaint to District Magistrate
On Monday, the landowners, accompanied by the MP, visited the district headquarters and submitted a written complaint to the District Magistrate. In their application, they clearly alleged that the land was sold illegally through a nexus between land mafia and revenue officials.
Manish Mohan Sharma stated that the property has been in the family for generations and accused vested interests of orchestrating a planned attempt to grab it using forged documentation. He urged the administration to conduct an impartial investigation and ensure strict punishment for those responsible.
