New Delhi. The central government has issued new guidelines for Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram 2.0, bringing children from birth to 18 years under an integrated digital health monitoring system. The upgraded framework will focus on early detection of diseases, timely treatment, mental health screening and continuous tracking of healthcare services through digital tools and artificial intelligence.
Digital Health Card to Track Child Health Records
A key feature of RBSK 2.0 is the introduction of a Digital Health Card for every child. The card will store and update medical information from birth through adolescence, including immunisation records, medical history, diagnostic reports and treatment details.

Officials said the system will help create a real-time national health database and digitally monitor referrals and treatment. If a medical condition is detected, the follow-up process will be tracked to ensure that children receive timely care.
Schools and Anganwadi Centres to Lead Screening
Under the new framework, schools and Anganwadi centres will serve as primary points for child health monitoring. Mobile health teams will visit these institutions regularly to conduct screenings and identify health concerns at an early stage.
The programme will also strengthen coordination between the education, health and women and child development departments. Regular awareness programmes in schools will focus on nutrition, hygiene and mental health.
Mental Health and AI Monitoring Added to Programme
The earlier RBSK framework focused on the 4D model: birth defects, diseases, deficiencies and developmental delays. Under RBSK 2.0, the scope has been expanded to include non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, along with mental and behavioural health conditions.
The programme will use artificial intelligence and digital technologies for real-time health data updates and faster decision-making. Officials expect the system to reduce treatment delays, improve transparency and ensure uninterrupted medical care for children.
