Fresh concerns have emerged over the integrity of the NEET-UG 2026 examination after Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) launched a probe into allegations that a “guess paper” circulated before the exam contained more than 100 questions closely matching the actual test paper. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has stated that the matter is under investigation and maintained that the exam was conducted under “full security protocol.”
Rajasthan SOG Examining Alleged Question Paper Overlap
According to investigators, a question set containing over 400 questions was allegedly circulated among students ahead of the May 3 NEET-UG 2026 examination. Officials claimed that more than 100 questions from the Biology and Chemistry sections showed “striking similarities” to the actual examination paper.
Authorities are currently investigating whether the circulated material was merely a highly accurate “guess paper” or evidence of a potential paper leak linked to the examination system. Searches and inquiries have reportedly been conducted in Rajasthan, including Sikar, as well as in other locations such as Dehradun.

Question Sets Allegedly Circulated Before Examination
Investigators stated that the alleged “guess paper” had been circulating among students before the examination, including through WhatsApp and other digital channels. Reports indicated that copies of the material were sold at varying prices in the lead-up to the exam.
The investigation is also examining the possible role of coaching institutes, intermediaries, and organised malpractice networks in distributing the question sets before the examination date. Authorities have not announced any arrests so far.
NTA Says Exam Conducted Under Full Security Protocol
Responding to the allegations, the NTA stated that NEET-UG 2026 was conducted under strict monitoring and security arrangements across all examination centres. The agency said suspicious inputs received after the exam were forwarded to central agencies for verification.
According to reports, the examination involved multiple security measures, including biometric verification, AI-assisted CCTV monitoring, GPS tracking of question papers, and deployment of 5G jammers at centres.
The NTA added that it is cooperating with investigative agencies and has shared technical and examination-related data as part of the inquiry.
Fresh Controversy Revives Concerns Over Exam Security
The latest controversy has revived concerns surrounding the security of high-stakes competitive examinations in India. NEET-UG is one of the country’s largest entrance examinations, with more than 22 lakh candidates appearing this year for admission to medical courses.
Experts note that paper leak allegations and organised cheating networks continue to pose challenges for examination authorities, particularly with the increasing use of encrypted messaging platforms and digital distribution channels for circulating confidential material.
