Mumbai. A woman has accused her husband of allegedly using a forged Aadhaar card carrying her name and photograph to check into a five-star hotel in Mumbai with another woman, prompting police to examine hotel records, CCTV footage and KYC verification procedures. The case, arising amid an ongoing marital dispute, has raised wider concerns over forged identity documents and gaps in hospitality-sector verification systems.

Hotel Records Trigger Complaint

According to the complaint, the couple had been facing marital issues, and mutual divorce proceedings were reportedly pending before a court in Gujarat. The woman said the matter came to her attention after she received a call from her lawyer asking whether she had reached a settlement with her husband.

When she denied any reconciliation, she was informed that her husband had allegedly been seen at a luxury hotel in Mumbai with another woman. The complainant then contacted the hotel to verify the information and alleged that records showed a luxury suite had been booked in the names of both husband and wife during February.

Fake Aadhaar Allegedly Used for Check-In

The woman maintained that she was not in Mumbai during that period and was staying with her family in Gujarat. She also claimed that her original Aadhaar card and personal identity documents remained in her possession throughout.

She later visited the hotel and sought CCTV footage and check-in records. Hotel authorities allegedly refused to share the information directly and advised her to follow formal procedures. The woman then sent emails seeking clarification but reportedly did not receive a clear response, after which the matter was reported to police.

KYC Verification Process Under Scanner

During the preliminary investigation, police began examining the identity documents submitted at the hotel, online booking details and digital entry logs. According to the complainant, the Aadhaar card used during check-in carried her name and photograph but was allegedly fabricated.

Investigators suspect the document may have been created through digital editing and morphing techniques. Police are also reviewing guest registration forms, online payment records, booking history and CCTV footage. The role of the unidentified woman who accompanied the accused is also under investigation.

The case has raised questions about how an allegedly forged document passed through hotel verification procedures. Investigators are now trying to identify who created the fake Aadhaar card, what digital methods were used and whether the case is linked to any wider forged-document network.
