A 37-year-old man allegedly died by suicide in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district after reportedly enduring prolonged mental distress over an alleged job fraud in which he claimed to have lost around ₹6 lakh to a man he trusted. Before taking the extreme step, the victim recorded a video message accusing the suspect of deceiving him with false promises of employment, collecting money from others in his name, and later blackmailing him. The victim, identified as Manmohan Singh alias Monu, was a resident of Mawana Khurd village in Meerut’s Mawana area. According to the police, he was found hanging at his residence on Thursday morning. Local police reached the spot and carried out an inspection alongside a forensic team, sending the body for a post-mortem examination.

The Video Confession and Fraud Matrix

During the preliminary inquiry, investigators recovered a final video recorded by Manmohan shortly before his death. In the recording, the victim alleged that an individual named Kunal Singhaniya, a resident of the Inchauli area, had taken lakhs of rupees from him on the promise of securing a job but completely failed to either arrange employment or return the money. Manmohan stated that he had fallen prey to a massive conspiracy that ruined his life simply because he trusted someone. He added that he had been depressed for a long time while the suspect remained out of reach, making constant excuses whenever the victim attempted to contact him.

The systematic financial exploitation operated through a deceptive routing cycle. The suspect allegedly took direct cash from the victim while also using Manmohan’s bank account to deposit alternative tranches, forcing the victim to immediately forward those funds back to him to obscure the trail. Furthermore, Kunal allegedly collected cash from several other job seekers by leveraging Manmohan’s name and identity to insulate himself from primary exposure.

Coercion, Intimidation, and Blackmail Tactics

The extortion pipeline extended into severe emotional manipulation and coercion to prevent the victim from seeking help. In the video confession, Manmohan claimed that the suspect would frequently take him to Lucknow, where he was forced into situations meant to compromise his integrity, such as being made to ask around to arrange women. The victim expressed deep fear that the suspect would weaponize these orchestrated events to claim that the defrauded job money had been spent on personal pleasures.

The trap concluded with an aggressive psychological blackout, as the suspect allegedly began torturing and blackmailing Manmohan regarding a woman being called to the house. Feeling trapped by the constant pressure, intimidation, and the threat of character assassination, the victim stated that he did not know what to do before ultimately succumbing to the severe mental distress.

Local Agitation and Police Mobilization

The news of the tragedy triggered immediate outrage and protests outside the Mawana police station, where family members and local villagers gathered in large numbers. The agitated crowd briefly attempted to block the main road to demand swift accountability, prompting an immediate intervention by police forces to bring the situation under control.

Based on a formal complaint filed by the victim’s brother, Jagmohan Singh, the police registered a criminal case under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Kunal Singhaniya and several other unidentified persons. Officials stated that a dedicated team is currently conducting a thorough technical analysis of the victim’s phone records, banking history, and the recovered video file. Law enforcement efforts are actively underway to track down the absconding suspects and uncover the full boundary of the employment fraud ring.
