The issue began after a complaint was filed by advocate Singapogu Subbarao, who alleged that Mangli and her brother lured him into investing approximately ₹9.5 to ₹10 crore in a microfinance scheme. According to the complainant, he was promised high returns, but neither was the investment secured nor were the promised profits delivered. In response, Mangli has dismissed the allegations as false and baseless. She has also filed a counter-complaint, claiming that Subbarao repeatedly attempted to meet her personally. When she refused, he allegedly filed a false complaint to malign her image. According to Mangli, the entire episode is driven by personal vendetta and does not involve any financial wrongdoing.
Amid the growing controversy, some media reports also mentioned director Venu Udugula in connection with the case, creating confusion. However, Venu quickly issued a clarification, stating that he has no involvement whatsoever. He expressed disappointment over being unnecessarily dragged into the issue and emphasized that linking someone without verifying facts is irresponsible.
Speculation Around ₹150 Crore Allegations
The situation became more complicated after certain unverified reports claimed that Mangli could be facing multiple financial fraud allegations amounting to as much as ₹150 crore.
