Banned Pharmaceutical Drugs Recovered

Police officials confirmed that the operation was carried out as part of a special anti-narcotics drive being conducted across the region. Acting on a tip-off, the police team intercepted the suspects near Shyamdeura Stadium area. They recovered a large quantity of restricted capsules and tablets concealed in multiple packages.

According to officials, the seizure included 26 packets containing 6,240 Tramadol-based capsules, 73 packets with 43,800 Elzomac tablets, and 25 boxes containing 3,750 Ultrapar Neo tablets. These substances are classified as controlled and addictive pharmaceutical drugs, often misused for intoxication purposes.

Authorities stated that the seized medicines are part of a growing network of illegal pharmaceutical trafficking, where restricted drugs are diverted from legitimate supply chains and sold in the black market for high profits. The estimated value of the recovered consignment in the international illicit drug market is around ₹1 crore.

Three Accused Sent to Jail Under NDPS Act

The arrested accused were identified as residents of Gorakhpur and were allegedly involved in transporting the consignment from Gorakhpur to Maharajganj for distribution. Following their arrest, a case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and all three were produced before the court and subsequently sent to jail.

Senior police officials said the action was taken under the directives of senior zonal authorities, as part of an intensified campaign against drug trafficking networks operating in the region. The operation was conducted under coordinated supervision involving district police leadership and specialized enforcement teams.

Officials added that intelligence inputs had indicated movement of illegal pharmaceutical consignments through the area, prompting surveillance and targeted action. Once the suspects were identified, a trap was laid, leading to their arrest and seizure of the drugs.

Supply Chain and Network Under

Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused were part of a broader supply chain involved in distributing banned and controlled drugs across district boundaries. Police are now investigating the source of procurement and the intended recipients of the consignment.

Authorities believe that such drug trafficking networks often operate through disguised transportation routes, mixing legitimate goods with illegal pharmaceuticals to avoid detection. These substances are frequently misused by addicts, contributing to rising concerns over drug abuse in several regions.

Police officials emphasized that strict action will continue against those involved in the illegal drug trade. Surveillance has been increased across border areas and transport routes to prevent further movement of narcotics and banned substances.

Investigators are also examining mobile records, financial transactions, and communication data of the arrested individuals to trace possible links to larger drug syndicates. Efforts are underway to identify other members of the network and dismantle the supply chain completely.
