TUNDLA/ FIROZABAD:  A tehsildar posted in tehsil of Firozabad has accused District Magistrate Ramesh Ranjan of serious misconduct, alleging pressure to shield corruption, prolonged harassment, the stopping of her salary, and demands for expensive items including an iPhone and an iWatch. Rakhi Sharma made the allegations during a press conference at her office on Friday and also appealed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for intervention.

Allegations of Pressure Over Corruption Inquiry

Sharma said she had received an application in July, about nine months earlier, containing allegations of corruption against three officials in her tehsil, including an OSD, a peshkar and a Clerk. She said she reported the matter to the District Magistrate, but instead of action being taken on the complaint, pressure was put on her to present the inquiry report in an improper manner.

She alleged that after she refused to cooperate, harassment began and continued for nine months. Sharma said a deliberate inquiry was opened against her and that she was later subjected to adverse official entries without her side being heard. She also said her salary was withheld for eight months and that the release came only after she approached the High Court.

Claims of Demands, Detention and Audio Evidence

The tehsildar alleged that demands were made through the District Magistrate’s OSD for an iPhone and an iWatch. She said she arranged and handed over the phone despite not receiving her salary, and claimed the iPhone she provided was being used by the District Magistrate. She also said she possessed the bill and related details.

Sharma referred to an audio recording of a conversation between her and the OSD. In the exchange, the OSD allegedly instructed that payment be sent directly to the company’s account and not otherwise, while Sharma said she was sending her own driver and could also send the mobile phone either by morning or during the night. She said the store in Agra was kept open late on the night of November 4, 2025, so the phone could be purchased.

She further alleged that after the phone was delivered, pressure on her did not stop. Sharma claimed she was called to a camp office in the presence of four people, including a private individual, and kept confined there for two hours. She said she was then forced to withdraw her writ petition and that multiple inquiries were initiated against her thereafter.

Appeal to Chief Minister and Questions Over Transfer

Sharma said she had sought justice from the Chief Minister through a video message and urged immediate action against the Firozabad District Magistrate. She said that if such conduct could occur with a female magistrate and a PCS officer, the issue raised serious questions about administrative functioning and dignity in public service.

She also alleged irregularities in the distribution of government land worth crores of rupees and said a fair investigation could expose a major land scam. Alongside the allegations of corruption and harassment, Sharma questioned her transfer from Tundla to Shikohabad, saying she had not yet received an official transfer order even though another tehsildar had been sent in her place.

Rakhi Sharma, originally from Agra, has been serving as tehsildar in Tundla since September 4, 2024. She said she filed a complaint against the District Magistrate and submitted a tahrir on March 25, but no action had been taken. No statement from the District Magistrate’s side was reported in the matter.

“A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the enquiry is relatively straightforward. The IMEI number of the Apple device in question can reveal critical details — including the point of purchase, payment method, and call records — all of which can help establish the truth.”
