A Delhi court has issued a bailable warrant against YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in connection with a 2018 defamation complaint filed by Vikas Sankrityayan over a video titled “BJP IT Cell Part II”.
Judicial Magistrate First Class Rahul Jain of Saket Court in South-East Delhi passed the order after the court was informed that an earlier notice could not be served because the premises concerned were found locked.
Complaint Relates to 2018 Video
Sankrityayan has alleged that Rathee published and circulated the video “BJP IT Cell Part II” containing statements that he claims were false and defamatory.

The complaint alleges that the video caused harm to Sankrityayan’s reputation. The allegations remain part of the pending defamation proceedings and have not been established by the court.
Rathee currently resides in Germany.
Fresh Summons Had Been Issued Earlier
Earlier in the week, the court had issued fresh summons against Rathee after the complainant sought an earlier hearing in the case.
The matter had previously been listed for November 20. In his application, Sankrityayan claimed that Rathee, who usually lives abroad, was in India at the time in connection with the “CJP protests” and requested that fresh summons be issued so that service could be attempted without further delay.
The complainant also told the court that execution of summons had been delayed for several years because Rathee was abroad. He further claimed to have information about Rathee’s residence in Haryana.
Next Hearing Fixed for October 31
After being informed that the notice could not be served at the premises concerned, the court issued a bailable warrant against Rathee.
The matter has now been listed for further hearing on October 31.
The warrant is a procedural order in the pending case and does not amount to a finding on the merits of the defamation allegations.
