A major alleged investment fraud involving cryptocurrency and forex trading has come to light in Dehradun, with around 160 investors from the Raipur area allegedly losing more than ₹12 crore. A fresh case has been registered against Lavish Chaudhary following an order from a court. The complaint was filed by Anoop Singh, a resident of Natthuwala in Raipur, after he alleged that repeated complaints to the police and authorities did not result in the expected action.
According to the complaint, Lavish Chaudhary, also known as Nawab Ali, allegedly used several online platforms, including Botbro, Yarker FX, Yarker Capital and Bot Alpha, to attract people to trading and investment schemes. Investors were allegedly assured returns of around 5% to 6% every month, while promotional claims reportedly offered returns ranging from 5% to 10%.
The alleged operation began around three years ago, when investors were approached through websites and other online channels. People were encouraged to deposit money after being assured of regular returns. However, problems reportedly began when investors attempted to withdraw their funds, with withdrawals allegedly being stopped around October 2025. Investors subsequently faced difficulties in recovering their money.
Complaint Escalated to Court
According to Anoop Singh, complaints were submitted to the Raipur police station and other authorities between October 2025 and March 2026. After no satisfactory action was allegedly taken, he approached the court. Following the court’s directions, Raipur police registered a case against Lavish Chaudhary.
The complainant has claimed that around 160 people from the Dehradun area were affected and that the total amount involved exceeds ₹12 crore. Investigators are now expected to examine the allegations, the money collected from investors, the online platforms used to solicit investments and the associated banking transactions.
Earlier ₹25 Crore Fraud Case
Lavish Chaudhary is already facing another case in Raipur involving an alleged fraud of around ₹25 crore. The Special Task Force (STF) is reportedly investigating that case as well. Investigators are examining other investors, companies, financial transactions and possible links within the wider network.
It has also been alleged that Chaudhary left India several years ago and is currently abroad. His reported location and any possible steps to bring him back to India may form part of the ongoing investigation. However, the allegations against him remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.
Possible Links to a Nationwide Investment Network
Investigators are also examining whether the Dehradun case is connected to a larger investment network operating across the country. Available information suggests that the wider network could involve investments and transactions exceeding ₹3,000 crore.
Investigating agencies are looking into possible connections between different online platforms, companies and investment schemes. They are also expected to examine the flow of funds to determine whether money collected from investors was transferred through multiple accounts or entities.
Expert Explains How Trust Is Built
Renowned cybercrime expert and former IPS officer Prof. Triveni Singh said that fraudsters in such cases typically build credibility among investors before encouraging them to commit larger amounts of money. He said claims of fixed and unusually high returns from online trading or cryptocurrency investments should be treated as a major warning sign.
According to Singh, investors should independently verify the credentials of an investment platform, the regulatory status of the entity, the trading service being offered and the official payment channels before transferring money. He also cautioned that early returns shown to investors can be used to create confidence and encourage larger investments.
The police investigation is currently focused on complaints, financial transactions, bank accounts and digital platforms linked to the alleged fraud. Further investigation is expected to establish the scale of the network and determine the role of other individuals and entities allegedly connected to the case.
