The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a deputy chief engineer-II (construction) of West Central Railway for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district.

According to the report, the CBI arrested Narayan Singh Bundela, deputy chief engineer-II (construction) of West Central Railway, following a trap operation in Sagar. The official was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting the bribe.

Allegations linked to contract payments and dues
As per the CBI, the accused had allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹1 lakh from a contractor. The demand was reportedly linked to the release of a security deposit and clearance of pending bills and PVC dues worth nearly ₹1 crore related to contract work.
Searches, recovery and ongoing investigation
Following the trap based on a complaint registered on June 4, the agency carried out searches during which unaccounted cash worth ₹62,000 was recovered from the accused’s guest house room. Documents related to real estate investments were also seized from his residence.
