Gorakhpur. A British national, Jordan, who was arrested at the Sonauli border while allegedly trying to enter Nepal without a visa and passport, has been shifted to Tihar Jail on the orders of the Patiala House Court in Delhi. The court has remanded him to judicial custody until September 29. Jordan was arrested on July 11, 2026, at the India-Nepal border. A case was registered against him at Sonauli police station, and proceedings are underway before a court in Maharajganj.
After his arrest at the border, Jordan was lodged in Maharajganj District Jail. Following an alleged disturbance there, he was shifted to Gorakhpur District Jail on July 29. During his stay in Gorakhpur jail, an order was received from the Indira Gandhi International Airport police station in Delhi seeking his production before the court. He is also facing a separate case related to his alleged escape from the airport.

Following the order sent to the Gorakhpur jail administration on September 13, Jordan was taken to Delhi. On September 16, the airport police produced him before the Patiala House Court. After the hearing, the court sent him to Tihar Jail under judicial custody.
The case related to Jordan’s alleged escape from Delhi airport dates back to October 2025. On October 29, 2025, he had been brought to Delhi as part of the process to deport him from Thailand to Britain. Before he could board his connecting flight to Britain, he allegedly escaped from the airport.
After the incident, multiple agencies, including the Delhi Police special team, crime branch, Central Industrial Security Force, Intelligence Bureau and immigration authorities, launched a search for him. Despite the efforts, his whereabouts could not be traced for several months. He was eventually arrested at the Sonauli border on July 11, around nine months after the alleged airport escape.
The SSB’s 22nd Battalion intercepted him at the border when he was allegedly attempting to cross from India into Nepal without valid travel documents. After questioning and verification of his documents, a case was registered at Sonauli police station under provisions relating to immigration and foreign nationals.
The next hearing in the Sonauli case is scheduled for September 28 before the Maharajganj court. Separately, in the Delhi airport escape case, he was produced before the Patiala House Court, which ordered his judicial custody.
Records also show that a separate case had already been registered against him in connection with his alleged escape from the Delhi airport. On October 31, 2025, a complaint by the airport authorities led to the registration of a case at the airport police station under provisions relating to immigration and foreign nationals.
Following his arrest, legal proceedings in the two cases in Delhi and Maharajganj will continue separately. The Sonauli case concerns the alleged attempt to cross into Nepal without valid documents, while the Delhi case relates to his alleged escape from the airport during the deportation process. His custody in Tihar will continue in accordance with the orders of the Delhi court.
