Hisar:   In a shocking case of financial fraud under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the Chief Minister Flying Squad raided Vidhata Nursing Home in Uklana, Hisar, over allegations of a ₹48,000 fraudulent claim. The hospital reportedly tried to claim government funds by showing a newborn admitted only on paper.

According to reports, acting on a complaint, a joint team of the CM Flying Squad and Health Department conducted the raid. During the inspection, multiple discrepancies were found in the hospital records, corroborating the complaints made by resident Sandeep Kumar.

Complaint Reveals Pattern of Deception

Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Bithmara village, said he had admitted his wife Sonia for delivery on March 3. After a normal delivery, both mother and child were discharged on March 7. He paid ₹25,000 for treatment, as the hospital allegedly refused to process the claim under the Ayushman scheme. Kumar also alleged that the hospital retained his Ayushman and Aadhaar cards.

He further explained that on March 14, during a follow-up visit, the doctor asked him to bring the newborn the next day. Since the baby was healthy, he did not go. Later, hospital staff repeatedly called, pressuring him to bring the child. On March 15, when he visited again, he was informed that his newborn had already been admitted since March 7.

Digital Trail Exposes Fake Claim

Kumar verified the details at a Common Service Centre (CSC), where the Ayushman portal showed that the hospital had claimed ₹48,000 for the newborn’s admission. Following this discovery, he approached the CM Flying Squad.

During the raid, officials found several irregularities that confirmed the allegations. A detailed inquiry has now been launched.

CM Flying Squad Hisar Range Incharge Sunina said, “The Ayushman scheme is intended to provide free and quality healthcare to those in need, but such fraudulent practices not only cause financial loss to the government but also deprive eligible beneficiaries of their rights.”

Larger Concerns Over Healthcare Fraud

Sunina added that, considering the seriousness of the matter, a police complaint has been filed against the hospital. She warned all hospitals and healthcare centers that strict action will be taken against any institution or individual misusing the scheme.

Experts note that fraud of this kind can have wide-reaching effects in government health programs like Ayushman Bharat. Even a single fake admission can cost the government lakhs of rupees while depriving rightful beneficiaries of their entitlements.

The lack of oversight in small and private hospitals, combined with negligence in record-keeping, encourages such cases. This incident underscores that despite digital portals and government record systems, regular audits and surprise inspections remain crucial.

Investigation Underway, Oversight Tightened

Following the incident, the Health Department has directed all private hospitals to follow rules and ensure transparency in claims processes. Citizens are also being encouraged to report any misuse of the scheme.

The disclosure highlights the need for improved administrative systems and stronger monitoring of the Ayushman scheme in Hisar and surrounding areas. The investigation is ongoing, and strict action against the culprits is expected.
