Indian-origin gangster Major Singh, 29, has been added to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Most Wanted list in the United States. According to the FBI, Singh is allegedly a key operative of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria Gang and is linked to a transnational criminal organisation operating in the US. Investigators have accused him of involvement in conspiracies related to racketeering, illegal firearms dealing and the distribution and possession of controlled substances.
According to the FBI, the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria Gang originated in Punjab and has expanded its operations to California in the United States. The agency describes it as an organised transnational criminal organisation allegedly involved in coordinated criminal activities across international borders.
The FBI said a federal arrest warrant was issued against Major Singh on June 25, 2026, by the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Singh has been charged under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. He is also accused of conspiracy to engage in the business of dealing in firearms without a licence.
The federal agency said the allegations against Singh stem from an investigation into the activities of the alleged criminal network. However, the charges have not been proven in court, and Singh remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty. The FBI has released his photograph and appealed to members of the public to provide any information that could assist investigators in locating him.
FBI Appeals for Information
The FBI has asked anyone with information about Major Singh’s whereabouts or alleged activities to contact their local FBI office or the nearest US embassy or consulate. The agency has also provided an online platform for submitting information to investigators.
Singh’s inclusion on the Most Wanted list comes as US law enforcement agencies continue to intensify investigations into transnational criminal networks allegedly linked to Punjab. Before Singh, Nitish Kaushal and Harmanveer Singh had also been placed on the FBI’s Most Wanted list over their alleged roles in transnational criminal organisations. Those cases involved allegations of trafficking controlled substances across North America.
The FBI had earlier released the photograph of another Punjab-origin individual, Amritpal Singh, who died in February 2025. Gurpreet Singh, another individual from Punjab, has also been named in cases linked to investigations into transnational criminal activities.
Joint Action Across the US, Canada and Europe
In an earlier joint operation involving law enforcement agencies from the US, Canada and Europe, 24 people linked to three India-based transnational organised crime groups were arrested. Eleven of those arrests took place in California. The groups have been accused of involvement in multiple criminal activities.
The US Department of Justice has charged a total of 37 people as part of its Operation Hardball indictment. The accused include jailed gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria.
The search for Major Singh highlights the growing focus of US federal agencies on alleged organised crime networks with links to India and operations extending across national borders. The latest FBI action also underlines the agency’s continued efforts to investigate alleged firearms trafficking, controlled-substance offences and other criminal activities attributed to transnational organised crime groups.
