A 100-bed civil hospital approved for Khajrana in Madhya Pradesh has remained only on paper for six years, even as 87 staff posts continue to exist in its name and transfer-posting orders are still being issued. The hospital was sanctioned on June 23, 2020, to provide better government health facilities to more than three lakh residents of Khajrana and nearby areas, but land for the project has still not been allotted.
Hospital Approved, Land Still Pending
According to the report, the state government approved a 100-bed civil hospital for Khajrana in 2020 and also sanctioned 87 posts for the facility. However, the hospital building has not been constructed, and the project has not moved beyond official records.
Local residents have been demanding a government hospital for years. In the absence of the proposed hospital, patients from the area continue to depend on other government hospitals for treatment. The report notes that several meetings and communications were held over land allocation, but neither land could be allotted nor construction could begin.
Staff Posts Continue Without Building
The report highlights that sanctioned posts in the name of the proposed Khajrana civil hospital continue to exist despite the absence of the hospital. A recent order issued on June 15 posted a lab technician in the name of Civil Hospital Khajrana.
The sanctioned staff includes specialist doctors, medical officers, staff nurses and other positions. Since the hospital has not been built, the approved staff are serving in other government hospitals, including PC Sethi Hospital, Hukumchand Hospital and other facilities.
Three Lakh Residents Still Waiting
The report states that if the hospital had been completed on time, it could have reduced pressure on MY Hospital, PC Sethi Hospital and the district hospital by serving nearly three lakh people in the area.
CMHO Dr Madhav Hasani said land has not yet been allotted for the proposed hospital in Khajrana and the process is pending before the senior office. He said the staff mentioned in the recent order have been posted to other hospitals.
