Vigilance authorities in Odisha have conducted simultaneous searches at four premises linked to an Establishment Officer of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Sambalpur in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets case. Investigators said assets worth more than ₹2 crore were found during the preliminary search after raids were carried out on the basis of a court-issued search warrant.
Searches at Office, Quarters and Residences
According to investigators, the searches were conducted at the officer’s office chamber, government quarters, a two-storey residential house in Sambalpur and another residence in Gudesingha village. The action followed a complaint alleging possession of assets beyond known sources of income.

Officials said financial records, property documents, bank details and other relevant materials recovered during the searches are being examined. The valuation of assets and verification of ownership documents are also underway.
Cash, Plots and Vehicles Under Scrutiny
Preliminary findings indicate that the officer and family members allegedly own two multi-storey houses, around 20 valuable plots, one Hyva truck, one four-wheeler, three two-wheelers, cash of about ₹19.72 lakh, gold jewellery and deposits in multiple bank accounts.
Investigators are examining whether the assets were acquired through legitimate sources of income. Income records, bank transactions, investments, property purchase documents and tax-related records are being scrutinised as part of the probe.
Financial Records Being Examined
Officials said documents and electronic devices recovered during the searches are being analysed to determine whether any other individuals or financial networks were involved in the alleged accumulation of assets. Digital evidence and financial transaction trails may also be sent for forensic examination wherever required.
Experts noted that in disproportionate assets cases, investigators must establish whether the assets are supported by lawful sources of income. Such probes usually require detailed scrutiny of banking records, tax filings, investment papers and property transactions before final conclusions are drawn.
The investigation remains in progress, and authorities said further legal action will be initiated on the basis of evidence collected during the probe.
