Lucknow | A real estate company in Lucknow has alleged the embezzlement of ₹13.1 million (₹1.31 crore) from its RERA-registered bank account, prompting the registration of an FIR against company accountant Robin Singh and 33 individuals. Police have launched an investigation after the complainant alleged that the misappropriated funds were transferred into multiple bank accounts.
The complaint was filed by Anmol Kumar, Administrative Officer of Bihani Construction, who alleged that Robin Singh had been working as the company’s accountant for a considerable period and was responsible for handling financial transactions and maintaining accounts linked to the firm’s RERA-registered bank account. The company, which operates under the Uttar Pradesh government’s New Township Policy, receives payments from property allottees into this account, while refunds for cancelled allotments are also processed through the same account.

According to the complaint, in August 2025, Robin Singh allegedly gained the confidence of the company’s management and obtained several blank signed cheques. Investigators allege that he subsequently prepared forged documents showing fictitious property allottees and fabricated cancellation records. Using these documents, he allegedly withdrew ₹13.1 million from the RERA account in multiple transactions until June 2026 and transferred the money to various bank accounts.
The company further alleged that the funds were routed to accounts belonging to the accused’s relatives, family members, acquaintances and other individuals. After the alleged financial irregularities came to light, Robin Singh reportedly absconded. The company then reviewed its banking records and financial transactions before filing a police complaint.
During the investigation, police examined bank statements and identified transfers to multiple beneficiary accounts. Based on the available evidence, an FIR has been registered against all 33 named accused. Investigators said every financial transaction, banking document and beneficiary account is being scrutinised to determine the role of each individual and identify those who may have benefited from the allegedly embezzled funds.
Police are currently analysing the complete money trail, banking records, digital documents and other financial evidence. If required, forensic examinations of the relevant bank accounts and electronic devices will also be conducted. Further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
Commenting on the case, renowned cybercrime expert and former IPS officer Prof. Triveni Singh said that in financial embezzlement cases, tracing the complete money trail is far more important than simply identifying fund transfers. He noted that forensic analysis of digital banking records, beneficiary accounts, financial documents and electronic evidence is essential to establish how the funds were ultimately used and to determine the role of each individual involved. According to him, timely digital investigation and detailed financial analysis remain the most effective tools for uncovering complex financial fraud.
