The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad has issued a warning to students and parents about possible cyber fraud attempts during the scrutiny process for the 2026 High School and Intermediate board examinations, cautioning that fraudsters may pose as board officials and promise marks increase or result correction in exchange for money.
The Board said cyber criminals may contact students and families through phone calls, WhatsApp messages, emails and social media platforms. Officials warned that such callers may falsely claim they can influence scrutiny, modify results or provide special assistance, while attempting to collect money or sensitive financial information.

Board Says Marks Cannot Be Increased for Money
UPMSP has clarified that it never personally contacts students for marks enhancement, payment collection or special scrutiny assistance. Officials said the scrutiny process is conducted under established rules and no person can increase marks through payment or influence.
According to the Board, scrutiny is limited to checking calculation errors, ensuring all answers have been evaluated and verifying whether any technical mistake occurred during marking. It is not a fresh evaluation of answer sheets.
Students and guardians have been advised not to share roll numbers, bank details, ATM information, UPI PINs or OTPs with unknown persons. The Board said fraudsters often impersonate government officials or board employees to gain trust before committing digital fraud.
Cyber Experts Warn of Education-Related Scams
Cyber safety experts said students and parents become emotionally vulnerable during result and scrutiny periods, making them easier targets for online fraud. Scammers often exploit anxiety over marks, admissions and academic performance to pressure families into making payments.
Cyber crime expert and former IPS officer Prof. Triveni Singh said such frauds are commonly driven by social engineering. He said fraudsters claim they can recheck answer sheets, increase marks or help failed students pass examinations before seeking banking details or digital payment credentials.
Experts have advised students and parents to avoid reacting emotionally to unsolicited calls or messages. They said all scrutiny-related information should be verified only through official board notifications and authorised websites.
Suspicious Calls to Be Reported on 1930
The UP Board has said strict legal action will be taken against those involved in such fraudulent activities with the help of Uttar Pradesh Police. Officials said cyber criminals may face action under provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Students have been asked to immediately report suspicious calls, emails or messages to their District Inspector of Schools office. The Board has also urged victims or potential targets to lodge complaints through the national cyber crime helpline number 1930.
The UP Board declared Class 10 and Class 12 results on April 23, 2026, after which the scrutiny application process began for dissatisfied students. Board sources said scrutiny results are expected in June 2026, though no official date has been announced.
